About this Blog

This site was set up when I was a member of a crew that was all new to J80 sailing. Even though we were all experienced keelboat racing "ferrets", we'd never sailed a J80. This led to a few dramas, especially in the drops! I put this blog together so that we could gather information from the net to work out what to do, when to do it and, hopefully, how to go fast.

That particular boat, "Jammy Dodger", was sold some time ago and the owner is now racing an RS Elite from Lymington - too far from Brighton for me to join him on a regular basis.

I thought I'd keep this blog going as an aide-mémoire for me. Plus, other J80 sailors, particularly those new to the J80 class might find it useful. Besides, I didn't want to hit "delete" after I'd spent so much time on creating this blog!

I'd welcome suggestions and additions to this blog to make it more useful to UK J80 sailors. If you're really keen you could be an author. Just email me at andy@rocsters.com
